Dr. Hughes and his wife have 2 sons. As an outside interest, he actively researches ancient near eastern archaeology, history and culture. When he really wants to cut loose, he enjoys playing science fiction-based video games with his children.

Dr. Hughes obtained his medical degree from Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock and completed residency training at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas.
He graduated from medical school in the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Hughes has been practicing medicine for over a decade and has served on the Executive Committee of a thriving medical practice for several years while simultaneously serving as the clinical director of a large multi-disciplinary medical laboratory.
